Book Descriptions
for Mazal Bueno! by Sarah Aroeste and Taia Morley
From Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC)
A loving, brown-skinned Sephardic family celebrates their baby’s milestones in this sweet board book. “When you first learned to crawl, as a baby so small, we cheered. ‘Go, baby, go! Mazal bueno!’” From first grin to first solid food, and then first time standing without support, the baby’s parents encourage their child with the familiar exclamation, “Mazal bueno!” It’s no surprise when the baby speaks their first word. “When you said your first word, it was ‘bueno’ we heard! And we hugged. ‘Yes, baby, yes! Mazal bueno!” Warmth, joy, and a celebratory Ladino refrain make for a happy story. (Ages birth-3)
