Book Descriptions
for Little Moon Dog by Helen Ward and Wayne Anderson
From The United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY)
The Man in the Moon and Little Moon Dog live together in their peace ful lunar home, but every summer, fairies disrupt the quiet. Over time, the fairies grow tired of Little Moon Dog’s company and move on to other things, leaving a very sad and lonely puppy. All the while, the Man in the Moon misses his canine companion and searches until he finds his friend. Ander son’s desolate lunar landscape, appropriately reclusive moon man, bouncy puppy, and delicately drawn mischievous fairies provide a charming comple ment to Ward’s lilting language. nlh, lmp
