Book Description
for Some Days by María Wernicke
From The United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY)
Through the use of white space, limited colors, and sparce text—this emotional story depicts the emptiness a mother and daughter feel after a painful loss. Around the dinner table the child tells Ma about a passageway in their yard where she goes to the other side to meet up with their loved one in a gray hat. In this warm and safe place, she gets should rides, learns to swim, and plays with him. Ma listens signaling love and understanding. Later, they twirl in some sheets and visit this place together.
