Book Descriptions
for Night Shift Daddy by Eileen Spinelli and Melissa Iwai
From Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC)
A small girl describes the rituals she shares with her father at night before he leaves for work and again when he returns home in the morning. Each evening he reads her a story and tucks her into bed. In the morning, when he returns, it is her turn to read a story to him before she tucks him into bed with the same endearing question that he asks of her each night. Eileen Spinelli’s rhyming text is a welcome reflection of the reality for many small children whose parents work nights. Melissa Iwai’s illustrations have great warmth and a deeply hued nighttime feel. (Ages 3-5)
