Book Description
for Peg and the Whale by Kenneth Oppel and Terry Widener
From Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC)
At age seven, Peg is well on her way to being the world’s best fisherman. She figures that the only way to prove herself is to catch a whale. After joining the crew of a whaling ship, she gets her chance to snag one, but the whale pulls her overboard. So Peg must set up housekeeping inside the gigantic animal. An original tall tale, filled with humor and hyperbole, features a dauntless young heroine who, according to the illustrations, always wears a vivid yellow rain slicker and cap. (Ages 4-7)
