Although the runt of the litter is generally "taken away" by the Pigman, Daggie Dogfoot manages to escape his cruel fate and is, therefore, highly regarded by his fellow-pigs. He attains the status of cult-hero when he learns to swim, but Daggie's deepest aspiration is to fly. When a flash flood threatens the barnyard, Daggie not only fulfills his dream of flying but proves himself a true hero, as well. Plays-on-words and subtle satire lend humor to the original and lively story, excellent for reading aloud. (7-13 years)
